AI DECONSTRUCTED No. 001 / 2026
LEGAL / PRIVACY

Privacy Policy

This policy describes how HONGKONG ADFLY LIMITED ("we", "our") handles the data of readers of the independent publication "AI DECONSTRUCTED" (the "Publication"). We operate in line with the Hong Kong Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance and, where applicable, the principles of Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information, the EU GDPR, and other regional regimes governing readers in those jurisdictions.

Section 1 — Position of this policy

We treat the trust of our readers as the foundation of the Publication, and clear disclosure of how reader data is handled is the precondition for that trust. This policy is drafted to meet applicable legal standards; where we adopt practices stricter than the law requires, we will say so explicitly on this page.

Section 2 — Categories of information collected

When you visit the Publication, the following are recorded automatically: all or part of the IP address, device type, operating system, browser identifier, referrer URL, time of access, and on-page interaction signals. If you contact us through any form provided on the site, you may voluntarily supply your name, contact email address, and the substance of your message.

Section 3 — Purposes for which information is used

We use the data collected only within the scope of the following purposes: measuring reading patterns and improving the editorial structure and navigation of the Publication; optimising the display and effectiveness of advertising; responding to inquiries and follow-up correspondence as needed; detecting anomalous access and protecting the integrity of the Publication; and complying with applicable law and lawful requests from competent authorities.

Section 4 — Disclosure to third parties and joint use

We do not disclose personal data to third parties without prior consent, with the limited exceptions of disclosure required by law, disclosure necessary to protect the life, body, or property of a person, disclosure necessary for public health or the welfare of minors, transfer to a processor engaged by us for specific functions, and transfers arising from succession or merger. Processors are bound by written confidentiality and data-handling obligations.

Section 5 — Advertising partners and their cookies

Advertising partners may set cookies or similar identifiers in your browser and use them to display interest-based advertising. Cookies set independently by those partners are governed by the partner's own privacy policy. You can manage interest-based advertising preferences through Google Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com) and the NAI opt-out page (optout.networkadvertising.org), among other industry mechanisms.

Section 6 — Analytics

We may use Google Analytics and similar services to measure readership, completion rates, and navigation. These services collect data via cookies and do not include information that directly identifies an individual. To opt out, use the browser extensions or opt-out mechanisms provided by each analytics vendor.

Section 7 — Cookie consent and withdrawal

You can refuse, restrict, or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. The scope and duration of any block is entirely under your control. If you refuse cookies, some features of the Publication (such as preference persistence or any future authenticated areas) may not work as intended. Refer to your browser's official documentation for instructions.

Section 8 — Security measures

We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to prevent leakage, loss, or alteration of collected data — including TLS encryption in transit, least-privilege access controls, hardened credential handling, periodic log review, and backups. In the event of an incident, we will identify the scope, take remedial action, and notify the relevant authorities and affected individuals as required by applicable law.

Section 9 — Reader rights and requests

Where applicable law gives you the right, you may request disclosure, correction, addition, deletion, suspension of use, erasure, suspension of disclosure to third parties, or notification of the purpose of use of personal data we hold about you. We may ask for reasonable verification of identity before acting on a request. Where a fee is permitted, we will inform you in advance, and we will respond within a reasonable period.

Section 10 — Revisions and contact

This policy is revised from time to time in response to changes in law, service, or industry practice. Where material changes are made, we will display the date and a summary of the changes at the top of this page. Questions and requests regarding this policy can be directed to the contact below.
